paying off a collection can only help in the long run but not that much. To get your scores up can take a few days to years. The most effective way is to pay revolving accounts down to less than 1/3 of the available amounts. pay each thing as agreed. If you are an authorized user on some one Else’s account then have them remove you from that status and you could get there in 24 hours if they have not paid on time
